Kate and Patrick were married at Le Chateau Boutin, a charming bed and breakfast on the north shore of Lake Superior in Bayfield Wisconsin. Their wedding was miraculous. The landscape and lighting of the north shore is phenomenal, add to that the charisma of Kate and Patrick, their family, and friends and you get an absolutely stunning wedding day.

There were both tears and laughter during the ceremony. The symbolism and simple beauty of Kate’s mom joining Patrick’s mom to combine two separate containers of sand into one was very moving. Indeed it was hard to hold back the tears.

After the ceremony we had a great time and took advantage of the gorgeous surroundings on the lake and in and around Bayfield. The dinner was hosted at Wild Rice and became the perfect end to a perfect day.

When I think of Sarah and Derrick’s wedding I think of a pure elegance. Sarah’s grace and beauty shined throughout the day and seemed to magically grow stronger during the moments when she looked towards Derrick.

Derrick is just beginning his career with the Washington Redskins as a punter. We wish him and Sarah all the best.

Finally! Back to Blogland….

When we converted to digital almost 4 years ago we were elated with being able to view the photos immediately after taking them. No more waiting for the lab to develop our images! Now it’s like Chrismukkah whenever we come back from a photo shoot! We can’t help but open all the photos!

These days it’s pretty rare that we see guests using film cameras at a wedding. The children are always perplexed as to why there is no image on the back. The pace of change in the photography world has been at warp speed.

We have an incredible job…… it’s difficult to make the distinction between work and play.

It’s amazing to be around people with so much energy and love of life. These joyous moments are contagious. It is truly a gift and an honor to be invited to photograph.

On to A + J:

Anne and Jason were incredibly kind and wonderful to work with. Always concerned if we had what we needed. Both doctors and separated by a few states during their residency programs, they accumulated many frequent flyer miles. Now that they’ve finished they’ve had the good fortune of landing jobs in the same city. Yay!

Their ceremony was held at St. Peter in Mendota Heights, the oldest catholic parish in Minnesota.
Market flowers on Nicollet Mall provided the gorgeous flower arrangements.
It was a magical evening as the sun went down at Mendakota Country Club in Mendota Heights.

This was one of those weddings that made it easy for us as photographers. The light was soft, the weather good, and most importantly (and not to be corny) there was joy everywhere! There’s just something wonderful about photographing weddings. People get all their friends and family together at one place and time. It’s quite a remarkable time to document in peoples lives. We’re your historians!

The ceremony was held at the historic St. Mary of Mount Carmel in Long Prairie.

Arrowwood Resort in Alexandria hosted the relaxing reception. The cocktail hour was held outside during the magical hour before the sun goes down.
